Today was the first day I gave in and ventured inside one of these new self serve yogurt places that have popped up everywhere. I took my three youngest kids. It was AWESOME!! I remember the first sign I saw for one opening near the Bristol. I thought to myself "why would I want to serve myself yogurt?". I was wrong!!
Let me walk you through the experience. We walked in and it's a really fun place to be. The colors are really soothing. Then we saw the table where we get our containers. They had two different size "cups". They are both huge. Then I read off all of the (probably twenty) flavors to the kids. We each picked a different flavor. Aidan went with mint, Sophie chose cupcake and I decided on cheesecake. The next step is to pick the toppings. They have all kinds of fresh fruit and berries...and of course they have all of the good stuff. The kids both decided on gummy bears, marshmallows, and m&m's. I got strawberries and sprinkles. Then we all put our ginormous snacks on a scale. It's thirty six cents an ounce. I was impressed we only owed $11.00 for all three. Then we sat at a table inside. All of the table tops spin. So Aidan, my four year old says "let's move the table so we can taste each udders(that's a quote)". This was a great idea, however Sophie (she's three) had no interest in sharing with Aidan or myself. Maybe next time. Next time will probably be this weekend or early next week as we are hooked!! Who would want to serve themselves yogurt? We do!!
By the way...my youngest Owen whom I mentioned was there is only four months old so no yogurt for him.
ReplyDeleteThere is a Yogurtini near our home and when I am there, I think I am about 3 or 4 years old too, Great fun! Glad to see you have your blog going. Great first post!
ReplyDeleteJust bought 48 ounces of organic yogurt to make my own frozen yogurt. It is easy and it is good. Just takes yogurt, vanilla and a little sugar. (maybe more than a little) Put some blueberries on it and it is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen a Yogurtini. I told Aidan and Sophie that we are getting yogurt again tomorrow. They are so excited. They made up a song about it.
ReplyDeleteWhen you make your own do you freeze it?
That is so fun! I will have to try one sometime! I work downtown and I just saw that they put one in pretty close to work and also another one in Lees Summit where we live! Its nice to hear how it works, and that you enjoyed it! So what ever happened with the teenager moving in?
ReplyDeleteLisa asks about refreezing the yogurt. Usually there isn't enough to refreeze, but when there is it gets a bit firm. Very much like homemade ice cream that tends to be best when fresh out of the machine.

ReplyDeleteWe tried another yogurt shop Friday...so delicious! So the new child's name is Dillon. I thought it was just a normal teenage fight with the parents type of thing, but his dad and stepmom seem to be happy he is gone and changed the locks. We are happy to have him. He graduates in a couple of weeks. He has a job and he is going to school at Emporia State next year. I hope he and his family work things out because these are all really big things in a kids' life. I know I wouldn't want to miss a second of it.

ReplyDeleteI must be doing something wrong. I can't find blogs from any of the 5 people I need to cooment on. I've tried capitalizing their initials, but either way it says I am using invalid url's. Please help. Thanks
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you described everything about the yogurt place, even the colors sound yummy. One opened up in Zona Rosa last year but I'm glad to hear there is one around here. I can't wait to try it out.
